"A theatrical spectacle to men and angels ..."
Yeah, like a flea circus in the universe!
for most of us raised in the "truth" and i hate to use that term, we were brought up/and or taught to believe we were very important in this world.
the message being preached, god's chosen people, yadda yadda.. so as we leave this religion, the things we can point to as being news worthy, those breaking the law in the ranks, coverups etc....its really small potatoes in the world at large, although to this group it is huge.. i believe that part of the letting go of the witness mentality is recognizing that in the end its all just a small cult that captured your soul, or you were born in and had no choice.
it sucks bigtime, its larger than life for most of us, but in the bigger picture of life its a very small blip.. there is no question this religion has ruined/destroyed many lives, but to the world at large it isn't big enough to make a differnece to those not involved.. in reality, to use a horrible analolgy.....the jw's are just a pimple on the butt of the world.. .

report: court sentences rape victimfri nov 16, 12:27 am et .
a saudi court sentenced a woman who had been gang raped to six months in jail and 200 lashes more than doubling her initial penalty for being in the car of a man who was not a relative, a newspaper reported thursday.. the decision by the qatif general court came in a case that had sparked rare debate about the kingdom's justice system when it surfaced more than a year ago.. in its decision wednesday, the court also roughly doubled prison sentences for the seven men convicted of raping the 19-year-old woman, the arab news reported on its english-language web site.. according to arab news, the court said the woman's punishment was increased because of "her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media.".
she had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes after being convicting her of violating saudi's rigid laws on segregation of the sexes.. under saudi arabia's interpretation of islamic sharia law, women are not allowed in public in the company of men other than their male relatives.. the initial sentences for the men convicted of the gang rape ranged from 10 months to five years in prison.
Horrifying, but not surprising for a country that has one of the worst human rights records around. Religion is the playtoy of abusive governments (and individuals), and always will be because its scriptures are always open for interpretation and reconfiguration, just like other so-called laws - Christian, Islamic or secular. Religious "Tradition" is simply an excuse for the usual abusive rituals used to maintain whatever the cultural status quo may be. The sexism and racism is deeply encrypted into culture, both religiously and secularly, with religion getting top billing for it. All religions have this inherent flaw, a flaw well-used by theocratic, autocratic governments.
whether or not he has actually done so is tangential to this topic.. my question is: why does the wts seem to think that god cannot break his own laws?.
there was recently a co at our hall, he was talking about religious stuff as they usually do.
but he said that the old saying: "with god, all things are possible.
So, jesus is a cherry-picker, too? LOL. Maybe so is god.
if all life is created why do you think god created dinosaur's...what purpose do you suppose they served...
I was told god did not create dinosaurs, and that satan created the fossils just to stumble and confuse us. My, isn't Satan clever?
is the glass half full, or half empty?.
it depends on whether you're pouring, or drinking.

I recently read from a poster in the looney bin that success is not the key to happiness, but that happiness is the key to success. Well, guess I better not forget my happy pills.
i seemed to have missed some of the excitement from last night.
but i wanted to post my observations.. it seems to me that some have an irrational fear of athiests.
it's as if they fear we are evil people that are out to destroy their faith.
All people have a right to voice their opnions in a democracy, even stupid people. Sometimes they even get elected to public offices.
Acceptance is not the same thing as agreement or approval.
Intelligent people have as much right to argue against the vagaries and stupidity of the obsessively religious as the obsessively religious have the right to rail against intelligence and rationality.
Who's going to stop it in a democratic discussion board? And why would rational people want to prevent such discussions? I think only irrational fear is what gets in the way of intelligent thought regarding religion and such fear prevents people from understanding that religion - (even their own) - doesn't always earn, deserve or warrant unquestioned respect.
in 1961 my father was disfellowshipped for not doing to the kingdom hall he was assigned to.. if i'm lying...my dying!.
it was the glendora california congeration.
the committee was.. john smoley.
It's absolutely appalling how petty they are about some issues, while they cover up and allow, if not encourage, child abuse.
